Client relations and marketing go hand in hand. After all, they both involve communication. Good marketing communicates your expertise to people who have a need for that expertise; and good client relations communicates to and with the client what you’re doing for the client, why and how their condition is improved by your actions.

Today, the fad is to talk about social media as though you are able to stay in your office and “touch” the world. While such outreach can be dramatic, clients will not flock to your web site and hire you on the spot. Those who are the most successful rainmakers understand that it usually takes a personal relationship to instigate a lawyer-client engagement. Traditional methods of connecting with people still work … and often with less expense and greater speed than other methods of outreach.
